How Do You Keep To-Go Foods Hot & Crisp?

January 26, 2021 by bbc_superstars

Take-out and delivery of food has become an essential part of the restaurant industry with numbers that were growing even before the pandemic.  Now with the government mandates of COVID-19, restaurants have been forced to develop new take-out and delivery programs in ways never before imagined. It is predicted that even once restaurants open again for indoor dining, take-out and delivery will continue to be in high demand because it has become such a part of the consumers’ lifestyle.

Consumer expectations with take-out have changed as well. Customers want dine-in quality food delivered to their front door. This poses many challenges to restaurants as most food sits on an average of 30 minutes before it is consumed. Steam from hot food builds condensation in traditional containers and can lead to a soggy, damp, unappetizing meal. In a recent study by Technomic, they found that “surveys said 62% of consumers blame the restaurant for a bad meal experience, and a significant portion of them will “advertise” that negative experience to others through Facebook, blogs, and various review sites. Therefore, ignoring issues, in the hope that diners will lower expectations for delivered meals, will almost certainly result in the restaurant’s food quality and reputation being criticized on social media.”1

The packaging that you have traditionally used could be contributing to a less-than-perfect consumer experience. Crisp Food Technologies® Containers, offered by BBC Distributing, have a unique, patented, convection cross-flow design to relieve moisture and condensation while maintaining food temperature. Raised airflow channels in the bottom of the container and through-the-closure ventilation, combine with venting in the anti-fog lid to ensure that fried foods remain crisp and taste freshly made.
